Suggested edit: Services Sunday – Death Claims Bill Pickering: ROGERSVILLE (special) – Services will be held here tomorrow for William M. Pickering, Sr., 60, well-known Rogersville merchant and salesman, who was dead on arrival at Burge-Protestant Hospital, Springfield, about 4 a.m. Thursday. Brother of Greene County Assessor John Pickering, he apparently died following a heart attack. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church. Funeral home spokesmen said Mr. Pickering had returned home Tuesday from the hospital where he had been a patient since suffering a heart attack six weeks ago. He owned retail stores here and in Seymour and Huntsville, Ark., For 40 years he was a salesman for Ely-Walker Wholesale Dry Goods Company. Surviving are his wife, Bernice; a son, William M. Jr., Rogersville, ; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Lou Scott, Huntsville Ark.; his mother, Mrs. Sam Pickering, 958 East Delmar, Springfield; six brothers, John 1100 West Linwood, Springfield,, Guy, 1703 South National, Springfield, Raymond, Salem, Lloyd, Route 3, Springfield, Joe, San Angelo, Tex., and Paul, Kansas City; three sisters, Mrs. Fern Wood, Mrs. Helen Whisler, and Mrs. Louise Gamel, all of Springfield; and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Kelley-Ferrell Chapel with the Rev. Paul Swadley and the Rev. William Markle officiating. Burial will be in Maple Park Cemetery, Springfield.
