A funeral for Ada Yoder Swartzendruber of Sheridan will be held at 1 p.m. today in the Sheridan Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Sterling Roth officiating. Interment will be in the Mennonite Cemetery, Willamina.
Mrs. Swartzendruber died May 14, 2003, in Sheridan Care Center, Sheridan. She was 90.
She was born July 5, 1912, in McMinnville. She attended Briedwell School near Amity and completed the eighth grade. She moved with her parents to Iowa in 1928.
She and Lewis Swartzendruber were married July 6, 1933, in Crookville, Mo.
She moved back to Oregon with her husband in 1937 and lived most of her life in Sheridan. She lived in Estacada with a son from 1994 to 1997.
Mrs. Swartzendruber owned and operated a second-hand store in Grand Ronde from 1963 to 1975. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, flowers and travel. She loved going to a flea market in Sheridan.
Her family said one of the highlights of her life was her rededication to God in 1940, adding that she had lived for him ever since.
Survivors include three sons, Oren Swartzendruber of Rickreall, Carl Swartzendruber of Umpqua and Stanley Swartzendruber of Parma, Idaho; a daughter, Alice Pier of Beaverton; 24 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Arrangements are under the direction of Adamson's Sheridan Funeral Home.
