Larry ABBOTT

Larry Leon ABBOTT, son of Henry and Adaline (DICKENS) ABBOTT, was born June 28, 1939 in Shattuck, Okla. He passed from this life Nov. 8, 1991, at Newman Memorial Hospital at the age of 52 years.

Larry attended elementary school, junior and senior high school in Shattuck, graduating with the Class of 1957. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving from 1958 to 1962. Larry was stationed in Japan for two of those years.

On July 28, 1965, Larry was united in marriage to Judy BECKER at the Seventh-Day Adventist church in Shattuck. To this union two children were born: Timothy Ames on April 6, 1968 and Tonya Sue on April 20, 1970. Larry was a devoted husband and loving father. He was extremely proud of his family.

Larry became a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church in April, 1965. He was a devout member of the Church, serving as Deacon and Elder, and was willing to help in any capacity that would benefit the church. He served his Lord with honor and dignity.

Larry began working at the Best Way Food Store when he was 15 years old. At the time, the store was owned and operated by his uncle, Paul ABBOTT. Larry was to eventually work for more than 30 years at the Best Way, during which time he made many friendships that would endear him to the hearts of those who knew him. He was always willing to assist or lend a helping hand to anyone who asked him, and he was a valuable asset to the store's operation.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Henry, in 1953. He is survived by his wife, Judy, one son, Timothy Ames, and one daughter, Tonya Sue, all of the home; his mother, Adaline ABBOTT, of Shattuck; one brother, Kenneth ABBOTT and his wife, Charlotte, of Hayward, Calif.; three sisters, Lenora FARRAR and her husband, Sam of Chino, Calif., Meryl MOONEY and her husband, Fred, of Amarillo, Tex., and Beth EATON and her husband, Larry of Shattuck; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many loving friends, who are saddened by his passing.
