'A TRIBUTE TO ESTHER'

She was "MOM" to six of us
"GRAM" to 37
She knew us well
'Cause we told her
All of our troubles.
She never failed to be
sympathetic, but I often
Wondered how many times
She secretly smiled
And shook her head.

When she was younger,
She could wallpaper
Pick raspberries and
go fishing
All in the same day!

She loved people,
Big dinner parties
With the tables set so fine...
Or maybe an impromptu indoor
Picnic, serving her delicious
Home baked beans and potato flat bread.

Mom thought she could do anything
And proved it when she built
A brick wall and platform
For her Franklin stove...

Each Spring, she filled every
Vase she owned with lilacs.
She loved beauty...
At Christmas, she loved lutefisk
Every year, she made us kids eat it
Before we could open our gifts,
In the hope we would learn to love
It too...It didn't work!

Mom was a hard worker
A doer, a helper
Some of her philosophy was as follows:
"Live and Let Live"
"Everything will work out for the best"
And..."In ten years you won't remember
What you are arguing about anyhow..."

Mom...Gram...Esther
To us they all mean the same...
ONE GRAND LADY!
We will miss her.
