Anna Orre was born to Nils Ersson Orre and Kerstin Larsdotter in Venjan, Darlarna, Sweden, on April 21,1861. Anna's mother, Kerstin lived her entire life in Venjan, dying there in April 1879. Anna immigrated with her father, Nils, and her siblings, Brita, Ingeborg, Kerstin and Nels from Venjan, Sweden to the Maple Ridge community in Minnesota, USA in 1883. Her younger sister, Majt, had died as an infant years before and her brother, Erik, had immigrated the previous year to the same area in the USA.

Anna married Charles Ostrom on Nov 10, 1884, in Minneapolis, MN. Charles and Anna had 10 children together. They lived on the county line road (Kanabec & Isanti) and their property extended to a nearby crossroads where the two counties met and four townships. It made their home in Lewis Lake seem even more special to them and their children. Charles and Anna were charter members of the Lewis Lake Mission Church. Their children would attend the one room schoolhouse not far from the church.
When Anna's father was killed because of a startled horse overturning his wagon, the little church had no cemetery laid out, so Nils was buried in Dalbo instead (year 1898). A cemetery was soon laid out so the families at Lewis Lake would be buried in their own community. Sadly, the first person buried in the new cemetery would be Charles and Anna's 9-year-old son accidently killed when a gun discharged unexpectedly.
Anna was a small woman, and she was often out of breath because of a lung issue. Charles would walk 22 miles south, following a trail to Princeton to purchase supplies and then hoist them onto his back for the 22 mile walk to the cabin at Lewis Lake. Anna was home alone with the children during this time. The cabin had only one small window located in its door. Indians were still in the area and came to the little window and peered in. Anna only spoke Swedish and she was afraid but remained calm for her children. She gave the Indians some of her freshly baked cookies! It appeared they had been drawn by the good smells wafting outside!
Anna died suddenly on the night of Feb 1, 1938, just before midnight. Her death certificate noted that her illness lasted only 45 minutes. She was much loved by her husband, children, and her community!
