Nellie was the oldest of their eight children. Her siblings were: Charles Edward 19 Apr 1883–17 Jun 1961 (Ella May Hulslander Aug 1890–1942), Clair Lyle 5 Mar 1887–18 Feb 1973 (Lena Pruys VanRisswick 14 Mar 1895–31 Jul 1981), Loyd Clinton 5 Jul 1889–13 Jan 1925, Roy Milton 21 Nov 1891–1 Aug 1962 (Edith Bartlett 1 Dec 1907-13 Sep 1962, Elizabeth May Loudon Kolden Beall 16 Sep 1902-7 Apr 1992), Bernice Jeanette 9 Jan 1894–12 Sep 1980 (Harold Addison Chapin 5 Aug 1891–4 Jan 1981), Elsie Lucille 30 Jan 1896–2 Mar 1993 (Conrad Julian Melberg 19 Feb 1897–3 Feb 1968) and John H. 27 Jun 1901–7 Apr 1968.
Nellie moved with her family to Crookston, MN where she spent the majority of her youth. She became a school teacher at Crookston and did substitute teaching for a two-week period at Perley, MN, where she met Einar D. Anderson. They were married in Crookston, MN 28 Jun 1906.
After their marriage they made their home at Perley, MN where they owned and operated a general mercantile store. Nellie was very active in her church.
After Einar's death, Nellie moved to Moorhead, MN and lived with her daughter, Helen. She lived there until she died at home at the age of 99 years.
Funeral services for Nellie were held at the Kirkebo Lutheran Church, Perley, MN 26 Feb 1981. Pastor Lance Yohe officiated.
