Excerpt -- Died, at her home on Salt Lick, last Friday about 1 p.m., the wife of H. Wolfe, Esq., one of the prominent citizens of that section. The deceased had been her usual health up to about one month before her death, when she returned from a visit from her sister and took critically ill from the start of Bright's Disease, failing rapidly until death came to her relief, when she passed to her reward, surrounded by the grief stricken family. The funeral was held Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at the Wesley Chapel on Salt Lick, the services being conducted by Rev. Ireland. The burial took place in the Chapel cemetery. Among those from Kingwood who attended were Charles W. Wolfe, Frank Wolfe, Mr. and Mrs. Ed C. Everly and Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Everly.
The deceased was a Miss. Mary Jane Beatty before her marriage, and was a daughter of Thomas Beatty. She was born on Salt Lick on the old Beatty homestead near the church and lived and died in that section. She was born January 11, 1848 and died May 4, 1906, being 58 years 3 months and 23 days old. She was married to Hezekiah Wolfe in 1869, and to this union was born thirteen children, eight boys and five girls. Four boys and one girl are dead, and four boys and four girls are living. The youngest boy and three girls are at home yet with their father. The eldest daughter is the wife of J. A. Everly of Kingwood, and the eldest son, Charles W. Wolfe, is U. S. Express Agent here.
The mother of the deceased was a Miss. Eve Lantz before her marriage to Thomas Beatty, so that there is a large connection among the Lantz's and Beatty's and Wolfe's of that part of the country and other scattered far and near. No more devoted wife and mother ever lived than Mrs. Wolfe and she always had a smile and a kind word for all and never had an enemy in her life. Her place never can be filled and the loss of such a woman is irreparable, but it is the way of all flesh and her mission on earth has not been in vain. Her children rise up and call her blessed and will reverence the name and memory of mother so long as life shall last, and already there are ten grandchildren to add new stars to her crown as a Mother of Israel.
