Excerpt -- Died, at his home over on Salt Lick, where he had lived for perhaps sixty years, the venerable Thomas Beatty, a brother to Henry Clay Beatty and George Beatty, of Portland district, on Friday, June 1, 1900. The funeral took place Saturday afternoon at the Wesley Chapel, conducted by Rev. J. H. Enlow of the M. E. church of Rowlesburg, after which the burial took place in the church cemetery. The deceased was 81 years and 7 months of age and leaves one son and two daughters to mourn the loss of a father. One week before his death he was stricken by paralysis which caused his demise. (Note: the date of death should read June 8, 1900.)
