Funeral services for Clinton ALDERFER, 85, who died at 2 p.m. Friday in his home seven miles northwest of Rochester in the Richland Center community, were held this afternoon in the Richland Center Methodist church. The Rev. Wayne SPEICHER, Niles, Mich., officiated at the rites with assistance from the Rev. Roman MILLER of the Walnut Gospel church. Burial was in the Richland Center I.O.O.F. cemetery. Mr. Alderfer had been ill the past three years, following a stroke. The Grossman funeral home of Argos was in charge of the rites. Born Dec. 14, 1873, in Belleville, Ill., he was the son of Henry and Eliza SISSEL ALDERFER. He came to Indiana when a child, living in both Fulton and Marshall counties; at his farm home in Richland township for the past 53 years. He was married in 1894 to Wilnettie McCLURE of Rochester. Mr. Alderfer was a member of the Walnut Gospel church. Surviving are the wife, at home; five sons, Leo [ALDERFER], Argos; Carl [ALDERFER], Tippecanoe; Vern [ALDERFER], Mishawaka, and Ralph and Lester [ALDERFER], both of Rochester; five daughters, Mrs. Earl HARTMAN, Mrs. Harry MORRIS, Mrs. Dean ARMEY and Mrs. Luetta MARTENS, all of South Bend, and Mrs. Walter CLEVENGER, Rochester; thirty-two grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Anna NEWCOMB, R.R. 3, Argos. Two daughters, a brother and a sister preceded him in death.
