Services were to be at 2 p.m. today at the Richland Center United Methodist Church for Charles Vern ALDERFER, 82, of 1125 E. Mishawaka Ave., Mishawaka, who died at 5:36 p.m. Friday in South Bend Osteopathic Hospital after a week's illness. Burial was to be in the Richland Center I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Mr. Alderfer was born in Rochester May 25, 1899 to Clinton and Nettie ALDERFER. He moved from Rochester to Mishawaka 50 years ago. He was married in Mishawaka July 11, 1952 to Rita P. THOMPSON, who survives. He retired in 1963 from the Uniroyal Co., in Mishawaka after 40 years' employment. He was a member of the Mishawaka Masonic Lodge. Surviving with the wife are a daughter, Mrs. Schuyler (Jean Rita) HINEMAN, of The Dells, Ore.; two granddaughters, Laura LAMBERT and Julie HINEMAN; a great-granddaughter, Jennifer LAMBERT; two brothers, Lester [ALDERFER], Rochester, and Carl [ALDERFER], Akron; and four sisters, Edith CLEVENGER, Rochester, and Mrs. Glenn HARTMAN, Mabel ARMY and Luetta MARTIN, all of South Bend. The Bubb Funeral Home, 202 North Main St., Mishawaka, was in charge of arrangements.
