March 27 for Walter C Crouch,
87, of Muscatine at Geo M
Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home.
Burial was in Buffalo Rose
Hill Cemetery with full military
rites provided by the VFW
Post No. 2153.
Walter was born July 21,
1916, in Lohrville, the son of
George L and Leva McCracke'n
Crouch. Most of Walter's
childhood was spent around
Bayard.
Walter enlisted in the Army
in 1941, serving during World
War II. He was a survivor of
Pearl Harbor and had belonged
to the Pearl Harbor Club as
well as the VFW in previous
years.
On February 12, 1948, Walter
was united in marriage to
Evelyn Johnson in South
Sioux City, NE. They were
members of St Mark Lutheran
Church in Davenport. For 16
years Walter and his wife
tended to the St Mark Church
Camp,in Buffalo. Walter
worked as a truck driver hauling
mail for 29 years and also
worked for Eagle Foods in the
warehouse for 12 years.
Walter died March 23,2004,
at ManorCare Center in Davenport.
Survivors include three sons:
Gary Crouch and his wife,
Louise of Windsor, CO; Rodney
Crouch and his wife, Vonnie
of Coldwater, OH, and
Leonard Crouch and his special
friend, Connie of Bettendorf;
daughters: Lynnette Bretches of
Denver, CO, and Judy Sodawasser
and her husband, Richard
of Davenport; brother, Norman
Crouch of Bayard; sister,
Dorothy Lohman of Perry; 15
grandchildren; eight great
grandchildren; two great, great
grandchildren, and special
friends, Dorothy Simmons and
Wally Bean.
He was preceded in death by
his parents; wife Evelyn in
1997; five sisters and four brothers.
