The Alliance Review Memorial Obituary:

Calvin C. Berlin, 86, of Lafayette, IN, died at 12:15 PM Saturday, October 15, 2011, in his home.

He was born March 4, 1925, in Homeworth, OH, to the late Earl and Bertha Berlin.

While growing up in Alliance, OH he graduated from Alliance High School and University of Mt. Union, formerly Mt. Union College.

He served in the United States Army from August 1943 to April 1946.

On June 27, 1948, he married Carolyn Buchman. She survives

Calvin worked in the US foreign Service as a diplomat for the State Dept., and after retirement worked as an International trade consultant for the State of Indiana.

He was a recipient of the Sagamore of the Wabash Award in Indiana and was a former member of the American Legion Post 1 in Paris.

Surviving along with the wife are three daughters, Anne Painter (husband: Lawrence) of Lafayette, Marilyn Berlin of Indianapolis and Cynthia Berlin of Wisconsin; a son, Robert Berlin of Georgia; 8 grandchildren including Daniel Berlin, who was currently living with his grandfather, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday November 5, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Alliance City Cemetery Chapel with interment of his ashes immediately following.
