PALMYRA - Marjorie Kathryn Coleman, 87, of rural Hannibal, died at 7:58 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Providence Baptist Church at Withers Mill. The Rev. Roger Freels will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra.
Mrs. Coleman was born Aug. 30, 1916, in Hannibal to Edward J. and Kathryn S. Staus Sharkey.
She was married to Merle D. Coleman on April 8, 1939, in Hannibal. He survives.
Others survivors include three sons, Merle Coleman Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va., and Gary Coleman and Kent Coleman and wife, Susie, both of Palmrya; three daughters, Joy Archie and husband, Larry, of Waldorf, Md., Gloria Constable and husband, Robert (Butch), of Hannibal, and Dawn S. Coleman of Quincy, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, Melissa Lanham of Sweetwater, Tenn., Gary Coleman Jr., Scott Constable and Renee Constable, all of Hannibal, John Coleman of Palmyra, Megan Coleman of Maryville, Tracy Sniscak of Frederick, Md., Stephanie Hoener and Rob Stanley, both of Quincy, Chad Hoener of Laguna Niguel, Calif., Travis Coleman of Daytona Beach, Fla.; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Mervin W., Edward and Donald Sharkey; and one sister, Mildred Kincaid.
Mrs. Coleman was a graduate of Hannibal High School. She was a loving wife for 64 years and a devoted mother and grandmother of six children; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She loved the Lord and her church. A member of Providence Baptist Church for 51 years, she taught Sunday School, Bible School and Training Union. She enjoyed gardening and especially loved flowers. She had a sweet smile and kind words for everyone. Her face would light up at the sight of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Gary Coleman Jr., Scott Constable, Matthew Coleman, Rob Stanley, John Coleman, Chad Hoener and Travis Coleman.
