He married Mercy Baker on Jun 22,1808 at Leyden,MA. She was born on Mar 5,1787, a daughter of Junia Baker. She died on Sep 15,1869.

Suggested edit: Their is a Mercy Baker the daughter of Elijah Baker and Martha, he was born in 1754 South Kingston RI. But lived in Colrain, Ma. at one time he also had a daughter Junia Baker. and a son Jirah. Could it be that James Avery was married to one of these sisters.
