Kathryn Lena Bertschin Sanders
Active member of Ebenezer Baptist Church
Kathryn Lena Bertschin Sanders, 76, of Toccoa, died Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at Toccoa Nursing Home.
Born May 12, 1930, in Stephens County, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Wallace Black Bertschin.
She was a 1946 graduate of Toccoa High School and retired from Coats & Clark with 25 years of service. She was an active member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, had served as adult and pre-school Sunday School teacher, choir member, Women's Missionary Union member and bereavement committee member. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary where she served on the Girls State Project. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Grady F. Sanders of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Ray Rice of Toccoa; son and daughter-in-law, George and Sylvia Sanders of Toccoa; sister, Mary Bruce of Toccoa; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Eloise Bertschin of Toccoa and Frank and Henri Nell Bertschin of McDonough; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Latrell Elrod of Toccoa.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, June 9, at Ebenezer Baptist Church. The Rev. Andy Childs and the Rev. Luther Williams will officiate. Interment will follow in Stephens Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Clint Sanders, Blake Sanders, Daniel Rice, Levi Rice, Richard Dawkins, Wallace Bertschin and Bryan Bertschin.
Members of the Ruth Sunday School Class will serve as honorary escort.
