A daughter of the late Albert and Wallace Black Bertschin, she was born October 18, 1936 in Stephens County, Georgia where she lived all her life. She retired from Regions Bank with many years of service. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Bruce, two brothers, Paul and Frank Bertschin and by a sister, Kathryn Sanders. She was the last living member of her family.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Neil Carney of Seneca, South Carolina; grandchildren, Kevin, Whitney and Logan Carney of Seneca, South Carolina; a number of nieces and nephews and a number of great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 13, 2023, 2 o'clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Brett Sanders and The Reverend John Thomas officiating.

Interment will follow in the Martin Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Mary Bertschin Bruce.
