Sarah was born in Minden Township, Montgomery, New York to Johannes Houck/Houk/Hoke and Mary Snyder.

In 1800, at age 15, she married Peter Reasner who was six years her senior. Within two years, they had their first child, Jacobus, later called James. She continued to have children for the next twenty-six years.

In 1827 while four months pregnant, Sarah was left a widow. Her son, Peter, Jr., was also widowed a few years later in 1833. After her daughter-in-law's death, she likely took care of his young son, Abram, as well as her own young ones, as seen in her move with Peter to Newstead, Erie, New York sometime between 1835 and 1842.

Sarah died in 1842. Her son quickly married Eliza Blackmore four months after his mother's death. When Peter and Eliza's first child, Charles, died as a toddler they buried him in this cemetery ... close to his Grandma Sarah.
