Albert Herman Cruson was born into a family of ten children and it is not known how may have already died. His parents were Garrett King Cruson and his loving wife Amata [Smith} Cruson. They married in Ypsilanti Counnty, Michigan 22 May 1831 and resided in that state until after their son Elisha was born. His father's parents, John and Eleanor Cruson are buried in Groton Township, Castalia, Erie, Ohio Sandhill Cemetery - Find A Grave Memorials #23696230 and 23696234 respectively.

It appears that Albert and Miss Ella Martin met and were married in Iowa during the 1870's.

In 1880, his brother in-law is James Martin they are all living together in Adams County, Iowa. James is a brick mason; Albert is a painter and his new wife Ella is a school teacher.

In 1900, Albert reports that his occupation was a local house and sign painter. He is living with his son Earl in Cottge Grove, Lane, Oregon.

In about 1908 Albert married Nettie Cruson at the time he was living in Cottage Grove, Oregon. It was the second marriage for both of them. Nettie was from Michigan and her parents were both from New York. In 1910, Albert reports that his occupation was a local wallpaper hanger.

It may well be that in the last few years of his life Albert lived with his son, Earl Newton Cruson who's remains lie buried beside him.
