John Elmer Bryant, 89, of Galax and a resident of Golden Living Center – Blue-Ridge died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at the center.
He was born Oct. 6, 1921, in Grayson County to the late Wyatt Monroe Bryant and Annie Roberts Bryant.
Survivors include his wife, Almeda Lineberry Bryant of Galax; one daughter, Teresa Bryant Worrell and husband, Frank Worrell of Galax; one sister, Rose Harrell Parks of Galax; one sister-in-law, Iris Pope Bailey of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held Saturday at 1 p.m., in the Twin County Funerals Sanctuary with the Rev. Randy Morris and Pastor K.T. Carico officiating. Burial followed in the Monta Vista Cemetery with the Galax Fire Department members serving as the pallbearers.
Military rites were conducted by Hillsville Post #1115 and Galax Moose Lodge #733.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in memory of John Bryant be made to the Galax Fire Dept., P.O. Box 147, Galax, Va. 24333.
