Headstone recorded by the Fort Miro Chapter N.S.D.A.R. for their books "Louisiana Tombstone Inscriptions" Volume VI, page 149 done in the mid 1950's.

According to the book "Encyclopedia of Founding Families of the Ouachita Valley of Louisiana, 1785 to 1850" by Dr. E. Russ Williams, Part 1, Pages 51-53, this is Nancy Ann McLaughlin, daughter of James and Sarah Morrison McLaughlin. She married Henry Claiborne Bartlett in Ouachita Parish May 17, 1826. They were the parents of Clarissa, Henry C, Jr., Elizabeth Ann, Nancy D., Sarah "Sallie" and Anne. Dr. Williams claims Nancie's father James was buried in the Island Cemetery aka Bartholomew, but the grave is long gone.

Findagrave contributor Linda Lynn states her obituary appeared in the March 3, 1855 New Orleans Christian Advocate. It stated she died in New Orleans on January 26. She was born in Orleans Parish in May, 1805. She was a member of the M.E. Church from the age of 13. She married H.C. in 1826 and was buried in the "family graveyard" in Ouachita Parish on February 6, 1855.
