Obituary appeared in the New Orleans Christian Advocate April 6, 1867 under the name W.C. Bartlett. According to the obituary, he came from North Carolina at the age of 28 and settled in Ouachita Parish. He married Nancy Ann McLaughlin there May 17, 1826. They were the parents of Clarissa, Henry C., Jr., Elizabeth Ann, Nancy D., Sarah "Sallie" and Anne. Mr. Bartlett's health began to fail so he moved to Tangipahoa Station, bought a home and it was there that he died.
