He was born on June 10,1864 in Overton Co, Tn to the late James Caroll Harris and Susan Elizabeth (Synder) Harris.

He is survived by 4 sons; William Luther, Berry, Tom, and Elbert Harris, all of Livingston; 2 daughters: Lou Verlie Cooper of Brush Creek and Nancy Jane Dixon of Livingston; 24 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren
