Services for John L. Whiteside, native of Mooreville who had been employed by the TVA for 22 years, were held Oct. 1, 1956 in the East Tupelo Freewill Baptist Church with burial in the Priceville Cemetery with W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors in charge. He was 63. He was injured when his auto was hit by an Army ambulance on Sept. 29 at Fort Campbell, Ky. He died in the hospital there on Sept. 29th. He served in the Army during World War II.

Survivors included his wife, Mrs. Elvie Whiteside, to whom he was married on August 17, 1917; two daughters, Miss Tenrse Whiteside of Ft. Campbell and Mrs. Preston Marcy of Tupelo; four sisters, Mrs. A. B. McCullough of Verona, Mrs. Dewey Taylor of Mooreville, Mrs. C. C. Smith of Mooreville and Mrs. Ethel Griffin of Belden; a brother, A. L. Whiteside of Shannon; one grandchild.
