Alexander Anthony, age 68, and for many years a resident of the Hagers Grove community, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ben Forman, near Leonard Thursday. He had been ill about two weeks with pneumonia and heart trouble.

He was born March 13, 1858, in Wiff county, Virginia. In 1886 he was married to Miss Stella Peoples of the Hagers Grove community and to this union were born six children, who, with the mother, survive. They are Mrs. Ben Forman of Leonard, Mrs. Homer Stevens, William and Aubrey of Quincy, Alfred and Mrs. Walter Luther of Keokuk. He also leaves three sisters, Mrs. George Brown of Macon county, Mrs. Reta Williams of California, Mrs. Elmer Glenn of Nickelton, Mo., and one brother, George, of Kansas City.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at the Berea church, conducted by Rev. F. M. Branic of Shelbyville. Interment was in the Peoples cemetery.
