Anna Mae Ward, died January 12, 1969 at Michael Manor in Douglas after an illness of five years. She was born August 21, 1888 in Falls City, Nebraska; the daughter of George F. and Lena Hochuli Snyder. Traveling in a covered wagon from Falls City to Alliance, Nebraska, she attended school there, graduating from Alliance High School. After her marriage to Jack S. Ward June 18, 1910 in Alliance, they lived in Edgemont and Rapid City, S.D. and spent summers in their cabin at Inglewood, S.D. Coming to Douglas about 1930, the Wards went into partnership with Everett Smith in the Ben Franklin store which Mrs. Ward managed by herself. At the same time, she helped at the local theatre, also owned by Mr. Ward. She is survived by her daughter Margaret and son-in-law, Ben Burnett of Douglas. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Caroline Burnett. (Information was obtained from her obituary by Betty Alberts, FAG Member #47293729.)
