CHARLES C. KIRKLAND
Rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Geo. M. Wittich Funeral Home for Charles C. Kirkland, 81, of 314 ½ East Ninth street, who died at 5:35 p.m. Wednesday at the Lippelgoes Nursing home. The Rev. Ralph L. Fischer, pastor of the Providence Baptist church in Illinois, will officiate. Burial will be at the Drury-Reynolds cemetery.
The son of Clark and Maggie Leonard Kirkland, he was born March 26, 1878, in Vernon county, Mo. His marriage to Della Gresham took place Feb. 15, 1904. He had been engaged in farming and moved from Eliza, Ill. to Muscatine five years ago. He was a member of the Methodist church at Sabetha, Kan.
Survivors include his wife; seven sons, Glen Kirkland, St. Louis, Mo.; Clarence Kirkland, Calexico, Calif.; Watt Kirkland, Santa Cruz, Calif.; Odell Kirkland, Reynolds, Ill.; Paul and John Kirkland, Muscatine, and Cecil Kirkland, Coal Valley, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Lorree Schooler, Scranton, Kan., and Mrs. Michael Sissel, Chicago; two brothers, four sisters, 31 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, one daughter, two brothers and one sister.
