HASTINGS - William G. "Bud" Pauley Jr., 72, of Hastings died Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Sam Rathod will officiate. Private family burial will precede the church services. Memorials are suggested to the church or the Jerry Pauley Scholarship Fund in care of Hastings College. Butler-Volland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Pauley was born on April 28, 1927, in Hastings to William "Bill" Sr. and Bessie (Cattle) Pauley. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1946 and Hastings College in 1951. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Glenda McManigal on Dec. 28, 1950. He was president of Pauley Lumber Co. and was involved in 27 businesses. He had been a pilot for 50 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lochland Country Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks, chamber of commerce, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and Hastings Lodge 50 A.F. and A.M. He had been a member of the Skyriders and Optimists. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Rhonda Pauley and Reneé Pauley, both of Hastings; two sons, William George Pauley III and Thomas R. Pauley, both of Hastings; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Harriet Callahan of Palm Coast, Fla., Mary Guenin of Latrobe, Pa., and Margaret Brown of Fullerton; and one brother, Robert Pauley of Hastings. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Pauley; and a sister, Jay Kelly.
