Funeral services will be held in the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home Chapel for Taft resident Kelsey Robert Black, 81. The Rev. Sam White, pastor of Cuyama Assembly of God, will officiate at the services. Burial will follow in the West Side District Cemetery.

Mr. Black was born in Poteau, Oklahoma, on April 17, 1913 and passed away in a local Taft hospital January 10. He had lived in the Cuyama Valley from 1953 until 1985 when he moved to Taft.

He worked as a farmer for over 40 years, most of which were spent farming the Cuyama Valley. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Minnie Black; three brothers, Jesse, Fred and J.R. Black; and three sons, James Edwin, Lynn Stewart and Fred Earl Black. His survivors include his wife, his children, his brothers and sisters, nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
