Bernice B. Alley, 95, died at 11:46 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003 at the Fountain Nursing Home in Marion. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava, with the Rev. Ronald Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in the Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 7:30 to 11 a.m.

Mrs. Alley was born Jan. 21, 1908, in Ava to George Bartlett and Carrie Gwin Bartlett. She married Aaron C. Alley July 7, 1926, in Ava. He preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 1973.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hammond, Ind. since 1935 and attended Second Baptist Church in Marion. She was a retired sales lady.

She is survived by one son, Clifford and his wife Bev Alley of Goreville; son-in-law, Howard Janssen of Bartlesville, Okla.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Shirley Janssen and one sister, Coy Wall.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or to First Baptist Church of Goreville.
