Son of Rev. Wentworth Hayden and Lovina (Ames) Hayden.

He married Jennie H. Nash, in March 1864; they had Mabel Hayden Dooher; Dana, baby who d. 1873; Vesta Hayden Howard Johnson; and Allen Jason. and possibly others.
He worked in the lumber industry with his brother, Charles.
David Wentworth was in the Minnesota 1st Reg., Co. E, Heavy Artillery
His brother, Charles also served, as did his brother, Alonzo C. Hayden, who died in Picket's Charge at Battle of Gettysburg, and is bur. in the Gettysburg Nat'l Cemetery in PA.
