Mrs. B. J. Werner, daughter of Mrs. Gilder, came to Saguach early Tuesday morning to visit her mother and found the doors all locked. She went to the Lockett home to see if they had a key that might fit the lock. Cpl. Clarence Hammel went over with her and unpon unlocking the door found Mrs. Gilder still in death. Mrs. Gilder apparently felt the attack coming on and laid down on the couch and removed her glasses which she still held in her hand.
Mrs. Werner had visited her mother the previous night and she seemed to be in usual health. Mrs. Maud Lockett, her neighbor, noticed smoke coming out of the chimney between 7 and 7:30 that morning. They found a chicken cooking in the pressure cooker and a pudding baking in the oven.
