Ethel F. Zeiger, 101, of Golden Good Shepherd Home, formerly of Clayton, died at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday (March 1, 2005) in the home.

Born December 20, 1903, near Clayton, Mrs. Zeiger was a daughter of Fred and Rose Ann Lambert Hanke.

She married Bryan Zeiger on April 20, 1922, in Quincy. He died November 17, 1993.

Mrs. Zeiger was a homemaker and attended Hazel Bluff country school. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the Busy Bee Club.

Survivors include a son, Robert Zeiger and his wife, Florence, of Havana; three daughters, Roselma Syrcle of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ruth Baucom and her husband, Forest, of Liberty and Margaret Ideus of Golden; 14 grandchildren, Judy Brosi of Albuquerque, Linda J. Taber of Quincy, Vicki Parn of Liberty, Dennis Zeiger of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, John Baucom of Liberty, Terry Zeiger of Petersburg, Sonja Crandall of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Cheryl Kroencke of Liberty, Robert A. Zeiger of Toledo, Ohio, Chuck Baucom of Liberty, Gary Ideus of Golden, Kevin Zeiger of Clayton, Beth Ormond of Liberty and Kim Krahn of Veroquia, Wisconsin; 40 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Zeiger was preceded in death by her husband, Bryan; a daughter, Norma Jean Zeiger; two son-in-laws, Alvin Ideus and Gerald Syrcle; two sisters, Anna Ennen and Ada Mae Rees; and two brothers, Elmer and Harry Hanke.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Robert Alexander.

Burial will be in South Side Cemetery, Clayton.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the time of services Saturday in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. The Hamilton Funeral Home in Clayton is in charge of the arrangements.
