Michael Bubnack, 78, of Syracuse died Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital after a brief illness.
A native of Minoa, Mr. Bubnack resided most of his life in the Syracuse area. He retired in 1973 after more than 30 years with General Motors Corp.
Mr. Bubnack was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, a third-degree member of Sacred Heart Council 6282, Knights of Columbus and a member of the Sacred Heart and West Side senior citizens clubs. An Army veteran of World War II and the recipient of the Silver Star and Purple Heart, Mr. Bubnack was a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, the former Valerie Faciszewski; a son, Lawrence of Sterling, Va.; a daughter, Barbara Schmidt of Vestal; two brothers, Donald of East Syracuse and Frank of Rockford, Ill.; two sisters, Helen Bubnack of Baldwinsville and Sue Kin of York, Pa.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Giminski-Wysocki Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, 1320 W. Genesee St.
