Was the first baptism in North Buffalo Lutheran Church in Kragnes Township along with Louis Oliver Thomas, and they were both baptized on 09 Feb 1896. The North Buffalo Church had been organized just a month earlier on 06 Jan 1896. John's baptismal sponsors were Sivar Larson and Johannes Aggerholm.
