"The announcement yesterday of the death of Edwin Anderson, the well known architect, which occurred shortly after 9 o'clock Sunday evening at his home in Winton Place, was received with genuine expressions of regret by the host of people whom he had won as friends by his genial ways. Heart failure and bronchial trouble were assigned as causes of his death. Though he had been failing for a year, he would never admit it and it was not till a week ago that he took to his bed. He leaves a widow and five children, one son and two daughters being in California. From 1857 to 1870 he was in partnership with Mr. Samuel Hannaford, and among the buildings that stand as monuments to his fame are the C. H. & D. Passenger Depot, the City Work-house and many of the fine old residences, which were planned during this partnership. He was the architect of the Commercial Gazette Building, among others. Mr. Anderson died in his fifty-ninth year."
