My 1st cousin 4x removed. 4th great-grandson of Godfrey I and Mary Ragsdale.


Married Caroline Virginia Sweatman, September 19, 1867 in Randolph Co., MO. 13 children.


May 13, 2007 note from Searchers of our Past, "Lewis Madison Ragsdale, one of the pioneer citizens of Jack County, Texas died at the home of a son, L.B. Ragsdale in Jacksboro, Texas.


"Services were held at the home officiated by Rev. D. M. Donalson, Rev. B.F. Dickenson, Rev. W.W. NeSmith and Rev. J.A. Matthews. He was buried at the Kilby Cemetery, south of Vineyard, near the old family home.


"Lewis Madison Ragsdale was for many years one of the leading men of Jack County, Texas. He was a successful farmer and business man. He was one of the organizers and for several years moderator of the Jack County Baptist Association.


Survived by 11 children."
