The community here was shocked and saddened Thursday afternoon by the tragic death of Bud Walton, who was electrocuted while at work near Prescott. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church here Monday afternoon with Rev. Alfred Hunter and Rev. Cutler in charge. Burial was made in the Quincy Cemetery. A very large crowd attended the services. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved family.
Willis (Bud) Walton, 44, of Carbon, was electrocuted in a high line accident about two miles west of Cromwell, Thursday afternoon.
An employee of Adams County, Mr. Walton was killed when a truck boom came in contact with an Iowa Southern Utilities Company Power Line which carried 7,820 Volts.
He was one of several employees driving pilling at the end of a culvert. He was holing the cable when the truck boom swung into the power line.
Dr. A. W. Brunk of Prescott and Dr. J. C. Nolan of Corning, county coroner, were called to the scene of the accident. Sheriff Bryan "Hoot" Goodvin was also called. There was no inquest.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 28, at the Methodist Church in Carbon, conducted by Rev. A. F. Hunter, assisted by Rev. Donald Cutler. Burial was in Quincy Cemetery.
Music was by Orlo Armstrong, Bo Armstrong, Leonard Armstrong, and Ray Hays, with Velma Routh pianist. Ball bearers were Harry Goodvin, Ray Reese, Cecil Hall, Bob Dicks, Ray Strait, and Vern Moore.

He is survived by his wife and children; Cpt Willis Faye Walton, of Ft. Lewis Washington; Mrs. Maxine Maupin of Carbon; Mrs. Lois Marie Armstrong of Carbon; Mrs. Claudette Townsend of Corning, Bobbie Lee, Betty Jane, Dorothy May, Connie Kay, all at home. One son, Ronnie Dean, preceded his father in death.
He is also survived by his mother and father and 11 brothers and sisters, Mrs. Florence Swain of Creston, Mrs. Grace Smith of Carbon, Mrs. Nellie Barton of Corning, Mrs. Freda Villers of Oregon, Mrs. Mary Brannon of Corning, Clifford Walton of Portland, Oregon, Mrs. Bessie Cozad of Empire, Oregon, Fred Walton, Oakland, California, Ronald Walton of Norfolk, Virginia, Donald Walton, Massena, Mrs. Jessie Zumwalt, Hayward, California, three sons-in-law, four grandchildren, Vernon, David, Danny, Maupin, and Harley Ray Armstrong and a host of relatives and friends.
Bud, as he was known to all his friends and relatives. was a wonderful husband and father. He was greatly loved by all his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those who needed it . He will be greatly missed by one and all.
