Father of Highland County Residents
The father of two Highland County residents was killed outright in a highway accident near Youngsville, south of Seaman, Saturday about 12:30 P.M.
Fatally injured was Edwin K. Howard, 82, of Peebles Rt. 4 (Adams County).
According to reports to the Adams County sheriff's office, Howard was turning his automobile onto Ohio 247 when his car was struck by one driven by ***, 16, Peebles Rt. 2.
Howard's wife, Bertha, 79, is in Adams County Hospital in serious condition suffering from multiple fractures, cuts and bruises.
*** is also in Adams County Hospital with an ankle fracture and face cuts.
Both cars were severely damaged in the accident which is still under investigation.
Services for the accident victim will be held Tuesday at 2 P.M. at the Lewis Funeral Home in Seaman, with burial following in Berea Chapel Cemetery in Scioto County.
He was born in Scioto County on Aug. 11, 1884, the son of Evan and Mary Howard.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha; eight children, Ernest, Seaman Rt.1, Vernon, Hillsboro Rt.2, Esther Gollihue, Franklin Furnace, Mrs. John O'Rourke, Waverly, Mrs. Edna Potts, Hillsboro Rt.2, Mrs. Thomas Wilson, Mrs. Kenneth Ross, and Mrs. James Worrell, all of Dayton; and one sister, Mrs. Adelia Pearce, Portsmouth.
