Mary's mother Rose Allen was the dau. of George Allen, the immigrant progenitor of the historically confusing Allen family of early Sandwich, Mass. Following the 1647 death of Joseph Holloway (inventory taken Dec. 4, 1647), Mary's mother m. 2) May 19, 1648 of record at Sandwich, Mass., William Newland.
In Nov. 1662 of record at Barnstable, Mass. (day missing), Mary m. as his 1st wife, Nathaniel FitzRandolph, eldest surviving son of Edward FitzRandolph and Elizabeth Blossom, bapt. (by Rev. John Lothrop) May 15, 1642 at Barnstable, Mass. As an adult Nathaniel was a prominent Quaker, and d. testate 21d 9m (Nov.) 1713 at Woodbridge, NJ. They had seven known children, but only the two oldest have recorded dates of birth.
