The widow of the late Capt. William Reavis died Friday morning at 7 o'clock. She was 81 years old and had long been a resident of this city. Mrs. Reavis had been ill for quite a time and her death had been expected for several days.
Her husband, the late Capt. Reavis, was one of the prominent citizens of Evansville before his death and he and his wife were widely known and stood high in the estimation of their friends. Capt. Reavis was a Republican in politics and before coming to Evansville was treasurer of Gibson county. The captain was prominent as a Mason and up to the time of his death took an active part in the affairs of the order. He was regarded as one of the substantial members.
Mrs. Reavis had not been in good health since the death of her husband. Advancing years also left their imprint with her. She was a woman of kindly disposition and greatly beloved by a wide circle of friends. She is survived bu one child, Mrs. William Dunham, a widow, from whose residence the funeral of Mrs. Reavis will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Dunham resides at 1413 Walnut street.
