Aaron Tatman, age 76, departed this life on Thursday, September 20, 2011 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas.

Aaron was born to the late James and Ida B. Tatman on April 4, 1935, in Whiteville, Louisiana. Aaron was educated in the St. Landy Parrish in Whiteville and afterwards served in the United States Army.

Aaron worked in the water department with the city of Port Arthur and then worked as an equipment driver with Great Lakes. After leaving employment with Great Lakes, he spent most of his time as a very passionate fisherman spending much time on his fishing boats and leaving behind many cherished stories about his fishing adventures.

Aaron was an active and faithful member of First Christian Faith Missionary Baptist Church where he loved singing in the Male Choir until he became ill. One of his favorite gospel songs was "Sweet Home."

Aaron is survived by 3 siblings: James Tatman and Thelma Lee Forsythe of Opelousas, LA; and Foster Tatmon, Sr. of Port Arthur, TX. He is further survived by a special lady friend, Faye Gabriel, a step-daughter, Jacqueline "Jackie" Jones, two special nephews, Ashton Clay LeBlanc who was his primary care provider after he became ill, and Johhny Ray Tatmon, all of Port Arthur, TX. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will miss him immensely. In addition to his parents, Aaron is preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers: Ross Mary Brown, Jonny Mae LeBlanc, Daly Tatman Sr., Alton Tatman, Murphy Tatman, Sr., and Harold Tatman, Sr.

Funeral services for Aaron Tatman will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 24, 2011, at First Christian Faith Missionary Baptist Church. 1003 Dallas Ave. in Port Arthur, TX where the Rev. Gilbert Collins is pastor. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3900 Twin City HWY in Groves, TX under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home, Inc. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church before the hour of services.
