Hershel Jack Hartley, age 80 of White Cloud, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2005 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont. Jack was born on January 13, 1925 in Sycamore, Pennsylvania to Oscar and Catherine Ann (Heater) Hartley and later married Helen McDonald on May 7, 1993 in White Cloud. He has been a resident of the White Cloud area since the mid 1970s and had been a truck driver until his retirement on July 1, 1973 . Jack was a veteran of World War II where he served in the United States Army and was a member of the Morley American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Helen of White Cloud; his daughters, Jackie (Steve) Weatherby of Wyoming, Michigan; Marilyn (Dick) Kik of Richland, Michigan; 6 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 5 stepchildren, 16 step grandchildren; his brother, George Hartley of Macon, Georgia; his sister, Twyla Kathryne Lee of Marvel, Texas. He was preceded in death by his brother, Franklin D. Hartley on August 5, 1998.∼Hershel J. Hartley

Hershel Jack Hartley, age 80 of White Cloud, Michigan, died on Thursday, February 10, 2005 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont, MI.
Jack was born on January 13, 1925 in Sycamore, Pennsylvania to Oscar and Catherine Ann (née Heater) Hartley.
He had been married to the former Alice Marcellus a union which produced two daughters, and later married the former Helen McDonald on May 7, 1993 in White Cloud, MI.
Mr. Hartley had been a resident of the White Cloud area since the mid 1970's and had been a truck driver until his retirement on July 1, 1973 .
Jack was a veteran of World War II where he served in the United States Army and was a member of the Morley American Legion.
Servers included his wife Helen of White Cloud; his daughters, Jackie (Steve) Weatherby of Wyoming, Michigan; Marilyn (Dick) Kik of Richland, Michigan; 6 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 5 stepchildren, 16 step grandchildren; his brother George Hartley of Macon, Georgia; and his sister, Twyla Kathryne Lee of Marvel, Texas. He was preceded in death by his brother, Franklin D. Hartley on August 5, 1998 .
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 15, 2005 from the Crandell Funeral Home – White Cloud Chapel with Rev. Duncan Johnston of the St. John's Episcopal Church in Frmeont presiding with interment in the Big Prairie Everett Township Cemetery . Military rites were given under the auspices of the Newaygo V.F.W. Sportsman's Post #4249.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Crandell Funeral Home – White Cloud Chapel.
