Died, at Sweet Springs, Saline county, Mo., on Thursday, April 14, 1898, after a
brief illness, Willis H. Tackett, aged seventy-two years. He was a native of
Morgan county [Missouri], early became an orphan, and was reared by the late
Judge Ross, formerly an eminent lawyer of Versailles.
When a young man, Mr. Tackett was a resident of Boonville, and is kindly
remembered by some of our older citizens.
He married Miss Sidney Harrison, a sister of Wm. H. Harrison, of this city, and
of their union eleven children were born - all of whom and his wife survive him.
After leaving Boonville, he purchased land in Pettis county, where he became a
prosperous farmer. He recently sold his Pettis Co. farm and was preparing to
leave for Oklahoma, but was taken violently ill on Wednesday of last week, died
the following day, and was buried at Sweet Springs* last Saturday.
He was highly respected by all who knew him, and his death is lamented by a
large circle of relatives and friends. The Advertiser tenders condolence to his
bereaved family.
