Ruth Barrett was born August 28, 1893 in Missouri and passed away January 8, 1960 at Newton, IA, at the age of 66 years, 4 months and 8 days. She was the youngest child of Bonapart and Pernila Barrett. In 1913 she married Talbert Adair. To this union thirteen children were born, ten girls and three boys. She spent most of her life in Decatur County except for a few years she and her family lived in Wyoming. She devoted her entire life to her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Talbert Adair in 1955, an infant son Lawrence Adair, her mother and father and also four brothers and four sisters. Those left to mourn her passing are her children, Mrs. Marhsall Bennett and Mrs. Alvin Larson of Long Beach, CA, Paul Adair, Viola Hansen, Mrs. Earl Baughman, Mrs. Floyd Collins all of Leon, IA; Mrs. Fred Johnson and Kenneth Adair of Lineville, IA; Mrs. Audrey Woods of Woodland, IA; Mrs. Willis Standford of Des Moines, IA; Mrs. Roland Simpson of New Virginia, IA and Mrs. Lester Deemer of Newton, IA; Also 44 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
