WINSTED (Special) -- Mrs. Laura E. Bond, 71, of 75 Wetmore Ave. died Tuesday evening at Litchfield County Hospital after an extended illness.
She was the widow of Elliott R. Bond who died in October 1963.
She was born in Riverton and was a communicant of St. James Episcopal Church of Winsted.
Mrs. Bond was a member of the Gilbert School Class of 1915. She took a summer course at Yale for teaching profession and before her marriage taught in Riverton in a one-room schoolhouse.
She was a corporator of Litchfield County Hospital and past president of the Litchfield County Hospital Auxiliary.
Mrs. Bond served as Chaplin in Green Woods Chapter, DAR for several years. She was a 50 year member of Magnetta Chapter, ORS, and was a pianist for Crystal Rebekah Lodge for many years.
She also was a member of Tuttle Burns Post, AL Auxiliary, Winchester Grange, the Winsted Woman's Club and the Green Woods Garden Club of Winsted.
She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Fred Topping of Corona, California, Mrs. Stewart Baxter of Norfolk, and Mrs. Michael Levesque of Kansas City, Mo; seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The funeral will be a the John J. Shea Funeral Service, 99 Wheeler St., Winsted and at St. James Episcopal Church, at a time to be announced.
Memorial donations may be made to the Litchfield County Hospital Auxiliary or to St. James Church building fund.

The funeral of Mrs. Laura E. Bond will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church with the Rev. Robert B. Doing, Jr. rector, officiating. There will be calling hours at the John J. Shea Funeral Home, 99 Wheeler Street, this afternoon and this evening from 7 to 9 o'clock.
