Wire Condolences
WINSTED, Conn. November 16, (AP)
The wife of Captain Eddie Rickenbacker found time amid rejoicing over the rescue of her husband from the Pacific to wire Miss Coreen Bond of Winsted, fiancé of Staff Sargent Alexander Kaczmarcsyk, who died before aid arrived.
"These are sorrows," wired Mrs. Adelaide F. Rickenbacker, yesterday, "that come to some who have loved ones in the service of their country."
It wasn't the first time Miss Bond had heard from the wife of the famous flyer.
Recently, during the three weeks the airmen, missing on a flight from Hawaii, were being sought over a wide expense of the Pacific, Mrs. Rickenbacker wrote to the Winsted girl urging her "not to give up hope for one minute." and expressed confidence that "My husband and the entire crew would be rescued."

I have been trying all day to think of words to express my sorrow for you. I have no direct news further than that your sergeant was injured and so was unable to stand the strain of exposure.
When I get something direct I shall write in detail. These are sorrows that come in those who have loved ones in the service of their country.
