Mary Angela Haddaway Campbell, 90, of Woodbine, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at Brinton Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born Oct. 31, 1920, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late George Evrie Akehurst and Emma Louise Hare Akehurst. She was the wife of the late Nathan Haddaway, and later married the late William Campbell. She was a licensed practical nurse for Sinai Hospital and a private duty nurse for numerous years. She enjoyed knitting and spending time with her grandchildren and family. She enjoyed many days at the South Carroll Senior and Community Center and her years at Brinton Woods. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law Wendy A. and Steve Gahm, of Woodbine, Ellen Louise and Joseph A. Burton, of Hampstead, and Hope A. Dayhoff, of Delaware; sons and daughters-in-law Murray E. and Susan Haddaway, of Delaware, and Thomas N. and Karen Haddaway, of Virginia Beach, Va.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Mitchell Haddaway; and brothers David and Evrie Akehurst. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be private in Parkwood Cemetery in Baltimore.
She also married Murray W. Gillespie on 9 June 1940. They had two children, Murray & Hope, prior to their breakup.
