Collated from US census data, his WWII military registration, and Oct and Dec 1963 issues of The Daily Times (Salisbury, MD):

Frederick Buickerood and Frederick Erwood are one and the same man; he is a man who changed his name.

Fred was born 15May1895 on Staten Island, NY as Frederick Buickerood, the youngest of six children born to August and Caroline Buickerood. His earliest known job was from about 1916-1920 as a lathe hand and machinist for the S.S. White Dental Co. in Prince's Bay, Staten Island. He obtained a marriage license on 21Sep1918 on Staten Island to marry Katie A. Cossean, and moved with her from his parent's home on Bloomingdale Road, Pleasant Plains to his older brother Harry Buickerood's home on Wood Ave, Tottenville, Staten Island, NY. In July 1920, Fred and some childhood friends were arrested and charged with operating a local bus line without a license, running from Tottenville to the S.S. White Dental Co. plant at Prince's Bay. Fred and his wife Katie continued living on Wood Avenue, with Fred holding a variety of jobs (including carpenter, bus driver, worker at Bethlehem Steel at Mariner's Harbor) from 1920 until about 1942.

It was in 1942 that Fred purchased his first acreage of farm land near Salisbury, Maryland under the name of Fred Erwood. Fred and Katherine Erwood moved about 1943 to their large farm in Maryland, known as Alms House Farm, on the road from Quantico to Rewastico Mills, Maryland, just west of Salisbury, Maryland. Fred died 17Oct1963 in a chair in his farmhouse, found by a neighbor. His only immediate survivor was his wife, Mrs. Katherine Erwood of Hebron, Maryland. His death announcent in the local paper noted that he was formerly of New York and moved to the Salisbury area 20 years prior. A memorial service was held in a Salisbury funeral home on 22Oct1963, with interment at Wicomico Memorial Park, Salisbury, Maryland. Katie held an estate sale on 14Dec1963 for all of the farm equipment and tools. In that sale, Katie is listed as the Administratrix for the estate of Fred Erwood, and lists herself as Katherine Anna Buickerood, aka Katherine Anna Erwood.
