Harley Leroy Ross is the son of Henry and Alice "Sweet" Ross. According to the Seneca County Birth Records Vol. 4 pg. 61 he was born in Bettsville, Liberty Township, Seneca County, Ohio. He lived in the area of Old Fort in Pleasant Township, Seneca County. His father Henry was a barber in the village of Old Fort. At the age of 5 his mother Alice, died of consumption in 1895 and he and his father lived with his grand parents William and Elizabeth "Parker" Ross in Pleasant Township.
