Dean E. Birkhofer, 67, Moscow, Iowa, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1993, at University
Hospitals, Iowa City, Iowa.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lacock-Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton,
Iowa. Burial is in Moscow Cemetery, with services conducted by American Legion
Post 584.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. A memorial fund has been established.

Mr. Birkhofer was born Aug. 27, 1926, in Osco (Moscow) , Iowa, the son of Arthur and
Helen Zesiger Birkhofer. He married Naomi Kavon Sept. 1, 1977, in Pueblo,
Colo.

He was a self-employed truck driver. He previously was employed as a meat
cutter for 18 years at Oscar Mayer Food Corp., Davenport.

He was a member of Muscatine Moose Lodge, past commander of Wilton American
Legion, and past president and former member of the Wilton Athletic Boosters.

He was a referee for football, baseball and girls softball, and played in the
Old Men's Softball League.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and all sports. He drove stock cars in his
younger years.
